The Lord's Prayer: Matthew 6:9-13

The ABLAZE Prayer House uses the Lord’s prayer as the core model for facilitating prayer and joining many diverse churches, fellowships and ministries into one family of prayer.

Though there are many ways to survey the Lord’s Prayer, at the Prayer house we will focus on a breakdown into five elements. These five elements from Lord’s Prayer form into five activities for the Prayer House to participate in. A prayer session may focus on just one activity, or may incorporate all or a few activities as the session leader determines.

1st Activity: WORSHIP

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name"

Exalting God and making Him greatly praised is the first element and activity of the Lord’s Prayer. Everything hinges upon rightly focusing our attention on the Lord God Almighty.

2nd Activity: SEEK HIS KINGDOM

"Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."

Seeking God's Kingdom to be established is a paramount directive. Jesus said 'seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness' in Matthew 6:33.

3rd Activity: PLEA FOR PROVISION

"Give us today our daily bread."

Our daily cares and concerns are not too lowly of a concern to move the heart of our Father. Prayers and petitions about what is happening in our personal lives, and in the lives of our families or city are brought to God in this prayer set.

4th Activity: RESTORE RELATIONSHIPS

"And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors."

Seeking God’s forgiveness, through the work of Jesus (1 John 1:9), and forgiving others is a paramount activity in God’s Kingdom. We generally partake in this work in this prayer set.

5th Activity: PETITION FOR PROTECTION

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."

This last petition focuses on the Lord's protection from temptations to sin and attacks from our enemy, the devil. We acknowledge that it is God, through the work of Jesus Christ our Lord, who sustains us in righteousness, and helps navigate evil days.
