Where will we run?
There is only one place to run and that is into the arms of Jesus. Runners have their eyes set on the goal of the race and are firmly fixed on their destination, which is ever closer to Jesus. They are running to draw near to Him as fast as they can. He is all that matters. They will run faster than they ever have because their eyes are so firmly fixed on Him and His goodness. They want to be where He is.
Are we ready to run?
This is a tough question because in so many ways we want to run. But so many times we try to run before we even get our shoes on. Other times we get our shoes on only to find that we had not tied them as we trip over our own shoe laces.
What will make this time different?
Maybe this time not all will try to run. We should not expect that all will run. We will look for the runners and run with them. If someone is not running we will not sit and wait with them. If you are not running, it is your own decision but it is not our job to try and drag you along. Because there are those that are unwilling to put in the effort to run. Laziness is not the other runners problem any more. There is freedom for the runners to run.
Why haven’t we run like this before?
We needed each other and could not keep pace with each other before. Some would start faster and run ahead, some would start slow and then pick up speed and by that time the faster runners were burned out. There was no synchrony to who was running fast and who was running more slowly. And some did not have their eyes on the correct goal and would go off track, making things very difficult. They would see a need and fill it, or be stirred to a cause, but then ultimately take their eyes off of drawing near to Jesus. But now together they can encourage one another, they won’t burn out, together they can run fast, together they can help one if they stumble, ultimately they can keep each other focused on the goal.
Keep your eyes on Him and run as fast as you can to draw near to Him.
