The provision to get you to the mountain of God, is rarely the provision to get you up the mountain of God!
That God provides for His people, His children, is such a sure promise from Him, it is one of names He gives for Himself, Jehovah-Jireh, “the Lord provides” (Genesis 22). The key is to not become attached to the provision, but to the Provider.
In the book of Exodus, God moves mightily to rescue His people out of Egypt, so much so that they are given gifts and provision as they are leaving. They left with a great bounty! But those provisions in the camp weren’t taken up by Moses when he drew near to God. God was his provision while up on the mountain for 40 days (Exodus 33 & 34).
Also, during the 40 years in the wilderness, manna was the provision of God (Exodus 16), but when the Israelites entered their land, that provision ended, and the land itself was now the provision God supplied (Joshua 5).
Similarly for us, each leg of the journey with God, will have its own provision. The difficulty is knowing when to stop looking for old provision, and in faith, depend upon new provision from God!
So remember, the provision to get you to the mountain of God (out from Egypt), is rarely the provision to get you up the mountain of God (into His Presence), just as much as the provision in the wilderness will be different than the provision in the promised land.
— Continue to press into God, to know Him more, and be watchful that you do not hold to tightly to old provisions that got you this far, when new provisions will be needed to get you further into God heart.
